6. Managing Scenes

Last updated 2026-10-19

Program list views

  • Cards: a grid of thumbnails.
  • List: the track list view, where each clip can be edited (chapter 8).
  • Compact: only number, name and progress.
  • Focus: like Compact, but the scene playing on Program is expanded.

Press Cmd+L in the program list to cycle through the views.

Adding, removing and reordering

  • Buttons under the list: Add Scene (at the end), Insert Scene (after selected, Control+N), Remove Scene, and ← / → (move the selected scene one place earlier / later).
  • Drag scene cards to reorder them; multiple selected scenes move together.
  • New scenes are named "Scene N" and get colors assigned automatically in turn.

Clicking and selecting

  • Click: send to Preview. Double-click: send to Preview and take it to Program with the current transition.
  • In Cards view, click the name strip to rename the scene.
  • Cmd+A selects all scenes; Cmd+← / Cmd+→ extends the selection to the neighboring scene.

Context menu

  • Send to Preview / Send to Program (Cut) / Rename
  • Insert Scene (after selected) / Add Multiple Scenes… (1–100) / Duplicate Scene / Set Color… (can be applied to several scenes at once)
  • Video Fade Out Off / Audio Fade Out Off / Loop / AUTO TO ▸ / AUTO TO and PLAY ▸ / AUTO NEXT AND PLAY ▶ (chapter 12)
  • Delete Scene

Deleting scenes

Deleting asks for confirmation and cannot be undone. The default button in that dialog is "Yes", so pressing Enter deletes immediately — be careful. If other scenes were set to switch to the deleted scene after playback, that setting is cleared.

Scene card indicators

  • The first nine scenes show their shortcut number 1–9, plus PRV / PGM markers.
  • A yellow frame marks the selected scene; a red frame marks the scene playing on Program.
  • If a media file cannot be found, the card turns red and shows "File lost link" (see chapter 15 for the fix).
  • Markers such as Loop, NEXT ▶ and Auto To N show what the scene does when playback ends.

Size sliders

  • Cards view: W (width 120–360) and H (height 50–280).
  • List-type views: S (scene row height 70–420) and V (picture track share 10–90%), applied to the selected scenes.
