Camera / capture card
- In the layer add menu, choose "Add camera / capture card…". A full-screen "Capture N" layer is created.
- Double-click that layer and choose the device in the "Capture source" dialog (click Refresh if it is not listed).
- To use the device's sound, turn on "Include the device's audio (played only while this scene is on Program)".
The layer is renamed to the device name.
Screen and application window capture
- "Add screen capture…": pick the display to capture.
- "Add application window capture…": pick the window to capture (minimized windows are not listed).
- After adding, right-click the edit box on the preview and choose "Select display region…" to show only part of the picture. You can also move and scale it (chapter 7).
System permissions
The first time, allow pmix in System Settings → Privacy & Security:
- Camera (cameras and capture cards)
- Screen & System Audio Recording (screen and window capture; restart pmix after allowing it)
- Microphone (device audio and live subtitles)
Capture pictures also appear on the external output. Device audio plays only while that scene is on Program.
