12. Fade Out and Auto-Play

Last updated 2026-10-19

Fade out

  • Global: Settings → General → Playback Defaults → "All Video Fade Out On" (picture fades to black in the last second) and "All Audio Fade Out On" (sound fades in the last second). Off by default; saved in the project.
  • Per scene: right-click a scene and choose "Video Fade Out Off" or "Audio Fade Out Off" to skip the fade for that scene only (used when the global setting is on).
  • Scenes set to Loop fade out on every loop.

What happens when playback ends

Right-click a single scene to set this. Only one option can be active:

  • Nothing set (default): when the program finishes, the next scene is put into Preview automatically (not taken to air). Nothing happens after the last scene.
  • Loop: plays again from the beginning.
  • AUTO TO ▸: puts the chosen scene into Preview when playback ends (not taken to air). Marked "Auto To N" in orange.
  • AUTO TO and PLAY ▸: switches to the chosen scene and plays it when playback ends. Marked "Auto To N ▶" in green.
  • AUTO NEXT AND PLAY ▶: switches to the next scene and plays it when playback ends. Marked "NEXT ▶". Not available for the last scene.

The target is tied to the scene itself, so it still works after reordering. With MIX selected and auto-play set, the cross-dissolve starts before the end so there is no gap (the scene must be about 0.6 s longer than the MIX duration).

Layer loop

Separately from scene loop, individual video and music layers can loop (layer right-click "Enable Loop", or the ↻ on a clip in List view). A looping video repeats until the scene ends.
