- Save with file (Cmd+S): saves the
.pmixand copies the media in use into thepmix_mediafolder inside the project folder, recording relative paths. Original files are not moved or deleted. Files with the same name but different content are renamed automatically, e.g. "name (2)". Copying runs in the background; if it takes a while, a progress dialog offers "Run in background" or Cancel (Cancel saves only the project file now and continues copying at the next save). - Save PJ only: saves only the
.pmixwithout copying media. Media outside the project folder is recorded with absolute paths. - Save As… (Shift+Cmd+S): saves to a new location and copies the media too.
- Autosave: turn it on when creating a project or in Settings. It applies only to projects that have been saved once, and overwrites the original
.pmix(no separate backup is made).
Moving to another Mac
Use "Save with file", then copy the whole project folder (the .pmix and pmix_media) together. Projects from older versions may keep media in a _media folder; the app finds it automatically.
When media cannot be found
- File → "Relink Missing Media…": choose a folder and the app searches it (including subfolders) by file name and relinks the media. The result is shown in the status bar.
- "Show Media Folder in Finder" and "Set Media Folder…" are also in the File menu.
Thumbnail and waveform caches are stored in pmix_media/.preview_cache and travel with the project folder.
